PRINCESS RESCULE/SALA'S ESCAPE LEAVING ITCH.IO FOREVER

As per the recent announcement: https://itch.io/updates/update-on-nsfw-content

" Once this review is complete, we will introduce new compliance measures. For NSFW pages, this will include a new step where creators must confirm that their content is allowable under the policies of the respective payment processors linked to their account.

Part of this review will see some pages being permanently removed from itch.io. Affected accounts will be notified via their account’s email address from our support address. You can reply to that email if you have any follow up questions."

>COMPLIANCE MEASURES

Let me put that in plain english: "You will curtail it to what our payment processors say or you're gone forever!"

To this I have only one response: To itch.io: Fuck you. I don't need to put up with this shit. Sala's Escape and Princess Rescue will be free forever. I have the means to self host, and I will do it. I am getting in touch with my webmaster, and we will work this out. If I can throw Discord in the trash, if I can throw guilded in the trash, I can do the same thing to you (and will do it without a second thought.) I hope you enjoy licking the boots of your new masters, and I hope the shoe polish poisons you.

Eat shit and die

For everyone else, follow me on the links at https://linktr.ee/quakehoof or join my afore mentioned server element.quakehoof.xyz (enter it in your browser DO NOT SEARCH IT ON DISCORD OR SOMETHING STUPID) you may need a client for it https://matrix.org/ecosystem/clients/ you can find them here. Now some scumbag or bot flagged my server FALSELY as malware so you need to add matrix.quakehoof.xyz AND element.quakehoof.xyz to your exemptions. If you still can't get on there, follow me on one of the links on linktr.ee. If you can't follow me there, all I can say is "Skill issue."

This is not the end. Princess Rescue and Sala's Escape will still be worked on. It just won't be here. My trust in this platform is gone, but I am not going to let five years of work go down the toilet just because of some joyless manhating priveleged harpies.

if your game doesn't end up being affected once the deindexing is over, will you remain on itch? or move elsewhere still?

Where can I find your games if you're leaving Itch,io?

I'm working on that right now. I'll get back to you all on that later. This isn't over!

Okay.

Not that I want to get into an argument, but what were they supposed to do?

Tell the credit card companies to fuck themselves and lose any means of getting any form of payment and go bankrupt because of it?

Steam itself caved in last week and removed many adult games; itch.io has way less standing than Valve, which has millions of dollars in its pockets.

You're right. But what am *I* supposed to do? Stay here on borrowed time? Trust them not to fold like this in the future?

(-1)

It's not like they have a real choice; they can either stay with the gamers and lose all possible income (and inevitably go bankrupt), or be forced to play by the rules.

However, placing the entire blame on itch.io is not right either; if someone is to blame, it's the payment companies and conservative groups.

As for what we are supposed to do, not much other than to complain about it.

first, I wasn't laying blame squarely on them. I was lumping them in with the feminist gang that did this AND the payment processors. All parties of this are equally guilty in my eyes. Itch cannot be trusted anymore.

Moreover, I speak as someone who has seen this happen over and over: CHANGE.ORG PETITIONS GO NOWHERE. This is not like SKG. Change.org has no teeth. Never ever has. I have never once, NOT ONCE seen change.org change anything. Until visa, mastercard, and all the parties involved are dragged kicking and screaming to the supreme court, all of this will continue.

What would you've done if you were in charge of itch.io? Take it to court?

I'm sure they would have very little chance of winning if that were the case.

If Valve, the one with the resources to put up a fight against it, is unwilling to do it, I don't think any other store page will. It's a lose-lose situation no matter how you look at it unless the law changes.
