DevLog 10-31-2023: A Eulogy for the Future


First, I want to thank all those who are giving my game a chance. Five long years of work have finally begun.

Second, I want to lay out my plans for the future.

Step 1: I have become aware of a scaling issue, which I will look into so you don't have to play in some shitty little letterbox.

Step 2: I will test a combat bondage system. Characters will be able to be tied up in combat. I will be doing this testing in a separate RPGmaker game so I don't destroy Sala's Escape. That RPGmaker game will also be released for free but not with as much fanfare or dedication as Sala's Escape.

Step 3: Implement said system, which will involve A LOT of full color drawing. (I already have a plugin for it)

Step 4: Test and subsequently Implement a leader system, allowing the gameovers/cgs/romance system to change depending on who is the first character in the formation. I know it's "Sala's Escape' but I can imagine some would want to experience the game as Dorice or Obediah (or future characters)

Step 5: Add a Merciless Level for more hardened (read: masochistic) RPGmaker players (including a new character you can have for a prize, if you're messed up in the head enough to get it.) This will also include extra quests, CGs, and stuff to tide the player over until...

Step 6: Move on to the Forest Update. The next major area of the game, in which the entire cycle begins anew: concepts, planning, drawing, dev-ing, bug zapping...

Step 7-??: Subsequent updates

The major content updates will be more/less the size of the game you are playing now, but with more RPG/wandering elements (and yes, I will allow you to skip one once you've made it through) The major content updates are as follows: Forest, Tunnels, City, Swamp, Ruins, Tower.
