4/1/2024: Lock and Load!
Happy Easter! It's been a while since I updated you on the Combat system of Sala's Escape, hasn't it?
I've received some complaints that Sala's Escape needs some more action. I agree. So to that end, I have completely overhauled the combat system in Sala's Escape and intend to add new battlers. I didn't have a lot of time to properly flesh them out yet though.
These weapons are %100 lore friendly thanks to the dimensional merge (It turns out that was actually a thing) Sala and company visited our world and acquired various armaments and ammunition for same!
The new combat system now works on highly realistic gunplay. You will now need to take cover, reload, flank, and suppress. Bullets do piercing and fire damage together. Watch out for gun jams that stun you for a turn!
Sala is now equipped with a colt M1911 Mana runs out too fast, but Ammo is more efficient despite it not being invtented yet. A well placed shot can do incredible piercing/fire damage but PLEASE! Aim for the head. How many horror stories involve three wasted shots center mass?
Dorice is equipped with a SPAS 12. Can be loaded with dragonbreath, tombstone, bird shot or slugs. A well placed headshot will splatter your enemy's head and stun two enemies as they stand horrified showered in bits of brain and skull (Assuming the thing you shot in the head *has* a brain and skull... though most of the enemies in the game right now are ghosts. I did not think this one through...)
Say hello to Obi's little friend: The M203. Can be fired in single fire to deal with one foe, or burst fire to hit three random foes. Use the grenade attachment to deal fire damage to all enemies and stun them, allowing Obi to mag dump that cock-a-roach!
But beware! If mere mortals can get strapped, so can the Red Mother and her armies!
Charna, everyone's favorite murderous crow, appreciates a good hail of bullets, especially when *she* is the one dishing them out. But one L86A2 LSW is boring: so she picked up a second one while she was in London! Every round that passes will shred any target not in whatever dwindling cover.
Vyl'shaerri, in her... exploration... of our world has found herself in the most terrible war zones we have to offer and has returned to Saracosa with a souvenir: an RPG-7, for which she has purchased many many rockets capable of blowing your party to kingdom come!
The Red Mother herself, a fan of TF2, has somehow obtained an M134D Minigun. Capable of firing thousands of rounds a second, this absolute death machine is typically found mounted on US military vehicles as a mere mortal attempting to fire this thing would result in their frail squishy bodies getting pulverized. The Red Mother doesn't need to worry about that, being strong enough to hold it fast. All she needs to do is decide which of you is getting 99999 points of piercing damage this turn!
The Vampire Scout is every bit as agile with a small pistol as he is with his HK G36E. Did you know vampires do not suffer the effects of recoil as a result of their unholy strength? That explains how he can fire it one handed, and how he can fire it like it was a squirt gun! His shots never miss and ignore armor.
The vampire mage has acquired one of those action movie four-missile rocket launchers. I don't have a reference for it in my big database of guns (I use world of guns disassembly to ref guns) but we can confirm it is not a prop: She can dish out critical hits to your party four times in a single shot!
The vampire squire has acquired a functioning ZIS-3 with high explosive shells (dealing fire damage to your party and stunning them) Anthrax shells (dealing damage over time in addition to stunning and damaging your whole party) from behind the safety of his blast shield.
April fools! No but really, all the testing for the combat system has gone along swimmingly, and I will get back to Sala's Escape once I've spat out Princess Rescue (which should be soon enough, I got my digits working again.)
